Step 1: Matching your Business Name with your Domain Name:

The ideal scenario for a consistent brand is to ensure that both your registered Business Name and Domain Name match. Conduct searches through the following links.

Australian Business Name Searching:

If you haven’t already registered your business name the following link to Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) allows you to conduct searches on available names.

Domain Name Searching:

Secondly you’ll need to search for a domain name(s) that match. Idhighway provides a search facility which also recommends alternative names in case your ideal name is taken. Whilst a name may already be registered it's possible that the existing owner may be prepared to sell. You can check this through the Registered Owner directory WHOIS.

Step 3: Hosting and Email Management:

Many Internet Service Providers (ISP's) allow you home page and email facilities – however for a more professional solution that allows you greater control, we recommend a separate hosting solution which provides full email management and plenty of storage space.

Look for access to perform the following tasks:

• Free Domain Name Server delegation facilities
• Email management - you can now purchase email storage without a full hosting account.
• Ability to set up individual email accounts using your new domain name

• Email forwarding facilities
• Email Spam Protection
• Auto Responder capability – Out of Office, Receipt of Orders etc
• Webmail access – remote access to your emails from anywhere in the world
